Every great platform has an origin story.

This is ours.

Why we built FieldEx

For years we watched field teams run on messaging apps, spreadsheets and paper job cards that go missing the moment they're needed. Asset history lived in someone's head. Proof of service was a blurry photo in a chat thread. Management heard about a breakdown after the customer did. There were solutions, of course, but they were either an EAM or expensive tools packaged with an ERP.

FieldEx replaces all of that with one platform: work orders, dispatch, preventive maintenance, asset history, spare parts and compliance records, on every device, from the office to the site.

Our journey started with TealBox, grew into Custella and became FieldEx. We began as field service management (FSM) software and grew into a combined FSM + CMMS platform, built for teams that run field technicians and manage complex equipment maintenance contracts with SLA-tied compliance. We brought these together for our customers at a fraction of a cost they previously explored.

Nevertheless, in the pursuit of scale and depth, we determined never to lose the ease of use for small teams with simpler use cases.

The FieldEx journey

The core team behind FieldEx has been working together since 2012. In 2018, the idea for FieldEx was born around a table at the restaurant below our office. Today, that same team is still working together as FieldEx runs field operations for customers across 16 countries.

It hasn't been a straight line. We've had wins and some painful losses. We worked through Covid, and through early implementations that tested everything we had. We've watched great people grow with us and go on to bigger roles elsewhere, and we've had families who backed us the whole way.

What kept us going was the belief that field teams deserved better software, and that the people running them deserved to spend their time on work that matters, not chasing paperwork. Hundreds of thousands of job orders later, we think we've done a decent job of building it.

Now we want to bring it to more teams: companies looking for software that's no-nonsense, easy to use, and earns its place in their operations every day.

A Malaysian company, a Malaysian team

FieldEx Sdn Bhd began in Malaysia in Petaling Jaya, Selangor. Your contract, invoicing and support all sit with our Malaysian entity. Our support team works Malaysian hours in English, Bahasa Malaysia and Mandarin, and the FieldEx mobile app is available in Bahasa Malaysia, English, and Mandarin.

We know how work really happens here. We know "otw, 5 minutes" can mean five minutes or an hour, which is exactly why FieldEx shows you where your technicians actually are, when they arrived and what they did on site. And when it's time to plan your onboarding, we'd rather sit down with your team over nasi lemak and teh Tarik (if that’s what you prefer) than on a conference call.

We want everyone to benefit

Field service tools shouldn't be a luxury. We believe every team deserves access to world-class tools.

That's why we make FieldEx Pro easily accessible to Malaysian non-profits and have deployed our platform for humanitarian teams.

Meet the minds behind FieldEx

We’re a close-knit team of engineers, field veterans, and problem-solvers driven by a single mission: taking the headache out of field operations and asset management.

Andrew Thomas
Founder & Managing Director

Andrew founded FieldEx after a career in telecommunications infrastructure, with roles at AT&T, Lucent Technologies, Alan Dick & Company (Malaysia & Brunei) and Lava Protocols. Working alongside field and network teams, he saw how much critical work still ran on paper and phone calls, and FieldEx is built on that experience. Today he leads the company's strategy and works directly with customers on their largest deployments.
‍
Off the clock: Andrew's big dream is making a difference through education. It's the project closest to his heart, and knowing Andrew, it won't stay a dream for long.

Hari Prashanth
Chief Product & Technology Officer

Hari has sat in almost every seat at FieldEx. He joined as an intern, became a developer, then technical manager, and rose to lead the company's technology within a few years. He works directly with customers to shape their solutions, then breaks the work into pieces the team can build, so the product keeps moving without losing its technical strength. Along the way he has built the engineering team around him, bringing in seasoned specialists as the product grew from TealBox to Custella to the FieldEx it is today.
‍
Off the clock: Hari volunteers as a coach for underprivileged children, helping them build self-confidence and self-esteem, and nudging them a few steps closer to a better life.

Nathan Burriston
Product Director

Nathan leads product at FieldEx. A software engineer by training, he joined as an intern, moved into frontend development and has grown with the platform ever since. Years spent building the screens technicians use every day are why FieldEx is designed around the person holding the phone, not just the manager at the desk.
‍
Off the clock: Nathan is usually writing on Medium about habits and focus. He's the tallest person in the office and will insist London is red, which Mithran would dispute.

Mithran Balakrishnan
Sales & Commercial Director

Mithran leads everyone at FieldEx who works directly with customers: marketing, sales, pre-sales, onboarding, support and customer success. That makes his team the first to hear what customers need, and that feedback has shaped FieldEx from day one to where it is today.
‍
Off the clock: Mithran acts on stage and in the occasional TV production, and is a football fan who'll happily tell you London is blue.
