TapEffect needed a way to manage hardware and inventory across remote water systems in Cambodia. Discover how FieldEx is helping them transition to a centrally managed platform for total operational oversight.

Before adopting FieldEx, TapEffect’s satellite sites were managing their inventory independently as standalone operations. This decentralized approach posed significant challenges, especially during the expansion of their pipe networks.
At each site, they needed to maintain a certain amount of stock and keep accurate track of where hardware and fittings were going. Because of the remote nature of typical satellite systems in the region, relying on decentralized management made it difficult to address problems on time.
"Before FieldEx, we were operationally more remote-focused - each site was managing their inventory independently."
– Ajay Chouhan | Co-founder and Operations Manager, TapEffect
TapEffect needed a solution that aligned with their model: a centralized head office in Phnom Penh efficiently managing remote satellite systems. They chose FieldEx because it offered the opportunity to integrate their scattered operations into one streamlined platform.
With FieldEx, TapEffect's central management can now centrally monitor stock levels and facilitate the transfer of equipment and machinery from one site to another.
"FieldEx seemed to be a good opportunity to integrate everything into one platform where we could centrally monitor what the stock levels were at each site, and where certain things like equipment and machinery could be transferred from one to the other."
– Ajay Chouhan | Co-founder and Operations Manager, TapEffect
FieldEx enables TapEffect to manage their stock and inventory much more efficiently. By giving central management a clear view of inventory levels across all sites, the platform helps prevent the over-ordering of materials, allowing surplus fittings to be easily transferred to other sites that need them.
"FieldEx enables us to manage our stock and inventory more efficiently. It helps us avoid over-ordering materials or fittings, because we may have a surplus in another site that we can transfer.”
– Ajay Chouhan | Co-founder and Operations Manager, TapEffect
FieldEx helps TapEffect clarify job tasks and instructions for their remote sites. By putting key activities directly into the system, TapEffect is operationalizing their activities to drive both efficiency and accountability.
"I see a benefit in really clarifying the job tasks and instructions for the site more efficiently ... making sure key activities are put into FieldEx as a way of accountability and driving efficiency."
– Ajay Chouhan | Co-founder and Operations Manager, TapEffect

While TapEffect is still in the process of fully integrating all of their systems into FieldEx, they have already achieved crucial operational oversight and visibility from their central management level. Ajay Chouhan notes that the platform is a robust, well-designed system accompanied by accessible technical support.
Looking ahead, TapEffect anticipates clear, measurable benefits as adoption continues:
For TapEffect, the ultimate reward goes far beyond operational efficiency. The real success is seeing clean water running through the taps of households that previously had to collect water from ponds or wait for the rain.
"When we started TapEffect and we connected our first households to piped water, and we saw the clean water running through the taps at households that had never received it before ... that was in itself a very rewarding experience."

As FieldEx becomes fully integrated into their day-to-day activities, it will continue to support the foundational infrastructure needed to scale this life-changing utility network across Cambodia.
